For a limited time you can get ABC’s drama Pan Am for free in the iTunes store. We’re not talking one or two episodes in low quality either – this is all 9 episodes in HD. The question is – does this mean that the show will be back after New Years?

Even though she’s not quite done – Patricia has a quick review of Walter Isaacson’s biography of Steve Jobs, and I talk about Roger Moore’s biography My Word is My Bond: A Memoir.
With the ramp up to the holidays we continue to get thrown off our schedule so we’re a day late again.
We didn’t have a lot to talk about this week but still managed to talk about it for about an hour…
This past week the FAA approved pilots to use iPad’s in the cockpit in all modes of flight – but still won’t allow passengers to use them during taxi, takeoff, and landing – odd huh?
The NTSB also made the completely unenforceable recommendation for a nationwide ban on all cell phone use while driving – including the use of hands-free devices.
Let’s pretend that for the very first time in your life you were handed a Christmas bonus. Now pretend that this bonus isn’t enough to whisk your family away for a great vacation (or even run away by yourself). No, say this bonus is exactly the same as your ‘allowance’ that you get ever other week. While we are pretending, say that your mate was kind enough to declare that you can do whatever you want with it — “It is YOUR bonus.” — might have be a direct quote.
Now I am forced to ask — what would you do with with your windfall?
Answers and decisions might be part of this coming week’s show.
After a weekend filled with 3 parties and one invitation only sale (which we went to because they fed us) and a day filled with DIY renovations we’re back.
Yes we managed to remove a bathroom vanity in one bathroom and replace a toilet in another and no, we didn’t kill each other, we’re still married, and we didn’t even cause any real destruction along the way. There may have been an extra run or two to Home Depot along the way – but those were to resolve issues that we discovered along the way…
Thanks again to Phil for pointing that there are a few other times when QR codes can come in handy.
This past week was the 70th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. We’ve been to Pearl Harbor, the Arizona Memorial and the USS Missouri and we reflect on that day, our experience there, and how far the US and Japan have come since then.
The New York Times and MSNBC ran an article questioning the ongoing policy regarding electronics on planes two weeks ago – something that happened to get even more attention as Alec Baldwin couldn’t put his video game down for a few minutes while on a plane. There’s now a petition on the White House’s website to allow electronics in Airplane Mode to be used during taxi, takeoff, and landing.
Norwegian Cruise Lines has announced that on one of Norwegian Epic’s (a ship that we think is one of the ugliest afloat) 2013 Mediterranean sailings, you’ll have the opportunity to embark from not one but 3 different ports. On this 7 day sailing you’ll still have to disembark from the port you embarked at – but it adds further flexibility to this itinerary.
The Mythbusters had an experiment go wrong this week – and ended up firing a cannonball off the Alameda County Bomb Range and into a Dublin neighborhood. How far off course did the cannonball go, well you’ll need to check the map over at Perception Builder, but that’s estimated to be about a half a mile…. The show has announced that they won’t be airing footing of them loosing their cannonball…
Also during a recent episode of the show the Mythbusters tested several myths submitted by viewers – one that was filmed but not aired was of them severely overloading a VW Jetta and seeing if it would still drive… Check out the video from The Discovery Channel
He's a bloke; she's a bird; and together they are fun, entertaining, and enjoyable to listen to. At least that's what the cats and dog say (as treats are handed out).
