The Bloke and a Bird Show Episode 34

So um, remember how in our last show we said we weren’t going to have a show this week…  SURPRISE!  The stars were in alignment and things came together for us and we were able to sit down and record for what we thought would be a short show – which means that this was actually a long show…

Since nobody told us to stop – we didn’t and kick off the news this week with more F1 talk.

Red Bull is under the FIA’s microscope, Sebastian Vettel gets penalized and slid down to fifth giving Jenson Button his second best race of the season. With Lewis Hamilton coming to the end of his contract with Vodafone McLaren Mercedes – will he stay with the team of move on?

Moving on to the other sports story of the week – we missed NBC’s coverage of the Opening Ceremony and instead downloaded the BBC’s coverage – what a difference when folks covering the ceremony don’t feel the need to narrate the ceremony!

We’re back! Although we’re going to be gone again – the next few weeks are going to be crazy for us so recording is going to be hit or miss for the next few weeks.

The newly announced Fiat 500L will be launching with a cool new option – and we probably won’t get it here in the US.

Do you know what your e-reader is reporting about you?

With the London Olympics coming up the question about what to do with Olympic venues after the games close is coming up – something China is struggling with four years after the Beijing games

Transport for London is trying to cover every contingency during the games…. and the insanity that is Olympic exclusivity for sponsorships just gets more weird.

The puppy saga continues this week with multiple apologies being sent to us from the rescue that treated us so poorly last week.  This week we met with a new rescue that looks promising.

NPR’s Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me was in Cleveland this week for the first time in show history and we were there for the live taping.

Now that it’s been a week since the race, we’re willing to discuss F1′s Grand Prix of Europe in Valencia Spain.  This year a race that is considered the dullest of the series was anything but.

Is it an insult or just a shrewd reading of their customers? We’re not sure exactly how to take Orbitz’s admission that it’s showing higher priced hotels to Mac users than it does to PC users.

A carjacking victim drives his carjacker off when the would be carjacker can’t drive a manual?

And it turns out that Mercedes is actually named for a real person!

The Breville Smart Grill makes it’s way out of the Bloke and a Bird Test Labs this week…  While it has it’s uses, we didn’t fall in love with it…

We’re off next week for the July 4th weekend. More info when we get back!
